Sun's Out!
Mon Jan 12 2009

It is so warm here today, I have the back door open, and the furnace off. The dogs are happy as clams. They can go in and out as they please. I'm happy too, not having to play doorman all day.

I'm making progress in the back yard. This weekend, I cleared away a lot of leaves and weeds and moved a few plants. I bought some dianthus and a little shrub of some kind, I forget the name of it. Today I pruned one of the apple trees. I might do the one in the front yard if I get brave enough. It is scary to prune a fruit tree. I do a lot of 'stand back and take a look' maneuvers while I'm doing it.

At the knitting guild meeting this month, we are doing a 'challenge' or more like a knit-a-long with a scarf pattern. I can't wait to see what everyone does with this interesting pattern:

It is really fun to work on. It's written with expensive Noro yarn in mind, but I decided to use up what I have on hand. It could be a lot more striking with another kind of yarn. My thrifty gene kicked in. I just wanted to learn the pattern and participate with the group.

Speaking of nice weather, I think I will go back out there and pull a few more of those pernicious, aggravating and horrid Bermuda grasses. A pox on them.

Pull weeds while the sun shines.
That's my motto!

That's an interesting pattern. I like your selection of colors, too. Wonder what it would look like with just one color. I don't think the pattern would show up as well.

Yeah, it's been really nice last day or so. I'd be happy with maybe a couple more degrees of warmth. Very pleasant change from all that fog and clouds!

Send some sunshine my way please??? We're supposed to have blizzard conditions tonight and into tomorrow. It just seems like this has been a really long winter and we aren't even a month into it yet *sigh*.

Yes, I'll let you know how I like Vista but CatControlled was telling me that Microsoft has a new operating system that they're going to debut around the end of the year that isn't supposed to have the stability issues that Vista has. I guess we'll see what happens ;)

Not too bad here today either, but isn't this supposed to be winter?

#1 would like to know if you are using that type of needle because you "have" to, or because it was convenient?

He is interested in trying to figure out the pattern and re-create it for himself.

I heard a rumor that we are to get some sunshine and warmer temps too. It will be most welcome. Today's cold fog just seemed to go right through me.

The scarf is an interesting pattern and I like your colors. They hint of spring.
