One Tuesday Morning In January....

As I wandered into the kitchen this morning something caught my eye in the front yard.

Mr. Suburban Turkey was out for his morning stroll.

I grabbed the camera and took the picture. Hey, it's all I can do. If you open the door, well, turkeys have REALLY good eyesight.

Anyway I watched him some more as I was making breakfast. 

I decided to take another picture for good measure.

Then he came even closer to the house and I got this one through the computer room window....

I know, it's not much but he was so close I am including it. [Notice those big eyes!]

So I puttered about doing this and that for a while. Let the dogs out. Let the dogs back in and Fiona came with them after being out since 5 in the morning. She made a pest of herself as usual then something caught her eye and she bolted onto the kitchen table.

I looked to see what her problem was....

What met my eyes was hard to take in at first.

It was quite improbable.

I had to crawl on my hands and knees into the computer room to get the camera so as not to be spotted....

Yeah. Me too.

What a brazen tom he is!  He stood there while I took six pictures of him. I think once he got that close to the double pained window, he couldn't see us so well. Especially since Fiona was all over the window sill and having a little kitty meltdown right in front of him. And getting in the way of all my shots too!

I'm stunned that he jumped up [and off] that silly little bird feeder without knocking it over. 

Anyway, that's our little excitement here this morning.

You just never know what might show up in your own front yard of a Tuesday morning.

Next it will be Unicorns ...

(My dear woman, you ARE taken with a fit of hyperbole as usual. It was ONLY a turkey. Calm yourself. There will be no unicorns, trust me.)

Well, there might be unicorns on the front lawn someday. You never know.

(I have no response to that.)

Damn straight.

    lol! Turkey in your front yard... I HAVE to ask where you live! Your yard looks like it's fairly close to a street. I wish WE had that kind of excitement. Although we do get deer in our yard. I for one hope you DO get a unicorn. I'd love to read THAT entry.

    Oh wow, that last shot of ol Tom is great! I haven;t seen our gobbling friends for a logn time. Nice to know they are still around and wandering the neighborhood at times. What a fun morning for oyu!

    What a treet to start the day. He will return for they love bird feed. Turkey's can be so smart but at times really do DUMB things. I miss the spring hunting them for they are a super test your skill.

    Before I comment on the turkey let me just say that your cutwork curtains are GORGEOUS!!!

    I'm amazed at the beautiful blues and purples in Mr. Turkey's feathers. He's quite pretty, for a turkey. It's so strange to see a wild turkey wandering through a suburban neighborhood. I've never seen a wild turkey within 20 miles of my house, and I live in a tiny little town. Even when I lived 20 miles out in the middle of nowhere we didn't have wild turkeys around. Wow.

    Cool beans! We still get some wild turkeys here but we're a lot more rural than you so it's to be expected but it's not every day you see one strolling down the sidewalk in suburbia!

    That beats my start hands down...... we got more snow. I know, I know; you like snow. So do I usually, but at the moment I am a little weary of it.
