Glowing Peaches and A Few Flowers
Thu Sep 03 2009

Yesterday I was getting ready for dinner and I looked over at my work table and the sun was hitting my peaches just so... and I took a picture of them for you.

The stuff in the jar next to them is dried sweet corn and some dried tomatoes. I ground up some of that corn and made cornbread last night. It was so delicious!

I have started my fall clean up of the garden and for two days in a row have cleared out dead plants and weeds from some of the flower beds and one raised bed. This morning I dug the last of the first crop of potatoes. The new planting is just now sprouting up out of the ground. I think they will have plenty of time to grow before the really cold weather stops them.

I chose one flower bed in particular to overhaul first because it is the one we see when we look out the back door. I put some of my tubs of plants up there for color. AND they are protected from the dogs. Ben is still patrolling for mice, even though I think they are all gone now.
I bought something called 'Angel Vine' the other day and put it in that big gray tub. I hope it likes it in there. It is supposed to be a bit of a climber. We shall see.

I have been awake since 4:30 this morning. I think I may have to take a nap. It's supposed to be 100 degrees today. This does not exactly help me wake up.... I need a good cold breeze to do that.  I don't see one coming this way for quite some time.

So nap it is then....

The SIXTH time was the charm.

It pays to have your camera at the ready at all times. That's a glowing picture. And now my mouth is watering for peaches.

    The flowers are nice, too.

    Bless

When I saw the peaches on your kitchen work table the other day (which would have been this day come to think of it) I thought how beautiful they looked grouped together with the natural light on them from the window. I am glad you thought to snap some pictures of them. Really a pretty site. How is the garden clean-up going? Looking good so far. Love the potted plants. Thanks for the fresh peaches......do I dare ask how Daniel liked the onion and bread soup? :-)
