Stormy Apple Pie
Wed Oct 14 2009

This is what became of some of our homegrown apples yesterday during the gale. I have titled this picture, 'Apple Pie Ka'.  Is there anyone reading this who can tell me what 'Ka' is? If you can, you get the Smarty Pants award for the day.

The storm blew and precipitated mightily yesterday. The power was off for a short time. There's a mess in the yard. [album 65561 Storm Yard1.jpg]

I'm not kidding. Lost two butterfly bushes, the leaves were stripped from the peach tree, and we almost lost a plum tree. I propped it up with a board in the middle of the gale. I felt like I was on that tv show 'Deadliest Catch'.

(That is hyperbole of the worst sort.)

Well, there was wind and rain. I got soaked. It FELT like Deadliest Catch...

The poor plum tree is going to need some staking and triming in the near future. Whew! But I gotta tell you, the air is so warm and fresh, everything has had the hot dust of summer washed off of it, and I can grow more butterfly bushes easy peasy. It's all good. Messy, but good.

Wow, you really got a lot of damage! We didn't get anything like that. My yard is surrounded by three buildings, so maybe they act as enough of a wind break to save the yard from near disaster.

The only Ka I know about is a Cirque du Soleil (sp.?) show.

The Ka was the Egyptian concept of spiritual essence, that which distinguishes the difference between a living and a dead person, with death occurring when the ka left the body. I got this from Wilkopedia but knew it was the Life Force that the ancient Eygptians believed in ...cool eh .

Wasn't that the snake in the Jungle Book cartoon? Probably not what you're referring to of course, but I'm pretty sure it was the snake.

I don't know, but I'm going to say that ka is some esoteric shorthand for "apple pi r square...and looks delicious!" :D

That does *not* look like Yetzirah's tidy back yard!! I do hope the plum tree survives.

I give up. What is Ka?

Maybe we all prayed a little too hard for rain?

    Bless

Don't know what "Ka" is, but I bet it is something close to Apple Pie = Nirvana. :o)

What a mess! We are getting those winds today. We'll see what I end up with.
    Battoning(sp) down, SIR!

Looks like you have your work cut out for you......but with that beautiful pie to look forward to, the work should not be too unpleasant.

Your Apple Pie Ka looks delicious and I am sure it was. Lots of damage with this crazy storm that the paper is terming CA's version of a hurricane. David came home Wed from Truckee to find one lost tree, another split to half it's size and three others down which have been salvageable. The sturdy old oak in the front yard is just fine. Lots of btranches and leaves everywhere it seemed. I returned home 2 days early because I got sick. I think I may have what you and Daniel did a while back. I have to try and find your diary post that listed your symptoms.
