The Pineapple Express arrived this morning at about 4:30 AM.

The first drops of rain fell innocently enough, almost timidly to tell the truth. I know this because I was standing outside with the dogs when they made their appearance.

Fiona ran outside [her favorite place] and did a rapid about face and ran back in, deciding the conditions were not right for prowling the neighborhood.

As I was eating breakfast, I noticed the wind was blowing our apples off the tree. It's a small Fugi tree, and we don't get a huge crop, but my oh my are they delicious this year!  I went out and rescued them:

It takes a storm like this one to keep Hub Man off his motorcycle. He commuted to work in the car today, thanks be to God.

There's only one little fly in this watery delight.

I told Ben the other day, right out loud that I WOULD file the pile of papers that should go in the file cabinet on the very first real rainy day.

Alas, today is the day. I cannot deny it. Excuse me while I hie me off to the closet and shuffle insurance papers and car registrations... ick. It's the price I pay for making off handed promises to tri-colored Shelties. They keep lists you see. They REMEMBER things. And I would never hear the end of it if I don't keep my vow.

But right after I'm finished, there will be revels with apples. Something involving cinnamon and pie crust methinks.

I think that might ease the sting of onerous paper shuffling quite nicely.
