I never know when to plant my tomato seeds.
Not REALLY.
I may be early, I may be way too late, but for good or ill, they are now in the seed tray.

I bought seven kinds of tomato seeds this year, because I was slap out of them. There wasn't a tomato seed in sight.
Here's the rundown:
Silvery Fir Tree, Purple Russian, Amish Paste, Heatwave II, Tye Dye, Orange Wellington, and Velvet Red.
Some are from Seed Saver's Exchange and some from Burpee's.
It's cold outside today. The ground is sodden. I know this because yesterday I pulled up a bunch of stinking Bermuda grass out of my raised beds. No matter what I do, that stuff keeps coming back. OY it's annoying. I've promised Hub Man he can run power equipment this year in the raised beds. He's good with the power equipment. They could use a good turning over after all the hard rains we have had this winter.
The peach tree is blooming, though tentatively. It really is chilly out there. The peach tree has taken note of it.
Starting seeds may be the only productive thing that gets done today, as I seem to have a severe case of brain fog going on.
I had planned to go out and do some errands, but I'm slightly afraid I might get lost along the way under these conditions. One must know one's limitations ...
(Yes Cupcake. One must. And your's are legion.)
It's a fact I cannot deny.
But the tomato seeds got planted by golly. At least I THINK they were tomato seeds....
Anyone notice how foggy it is in here???

- From:Mamallama (Legacy)On:Tue Mar 09 2010Watch out for that tree!!!
Maybe the dogs can lead you.
Off to quilting, then home to make bread.
Hugs! - From:InStitches (Legacy)On:Tue Mar 09 2010Well at least you did something today......I'm still thinking about doing something. The thing is I can't decide which something to do so I'm doing nothing until the right something presents itself.
I think it highly likely however that the crochet hook will win out over the mop. - From:Salamander (Legacy)On:Thu Mar 11 2010You are weeks in advance of us. I did note that the pussy willows are showing their tips, and some of the maple trees have a reddish sheen to them that precede their getting real bud development, but even the forsythia hasn't dared to pop so much as a flower in these parts. I'm in the process of trying to figure out what to plant in front of the deck; I loved the cup-and-saucer campanella, but with a 50% mortality I can probably spend my money better on something else. If you have any suggestions for an annual that is big, busy and flowers throughout the summer I'm all ears (easterly facing garden).
- From:Salamander (Legacy)On:Thu Mar 11 2010I just looked up four o'clocks and they seem ideal. Up to two feet tall, essentially non-toxic (since I'm still dealing with Steroid Cat, aka LGS, who eats everything she can tear off with her teeth)and all summer blooms. On top of that, they attract sphinx moths and hummingbirds, the first of which I have in abundance and the second of which I would like to attract more of. I'm off to look up husbandry and where to purchase now. Thanks!
