I hied me off to the Capitol yesterday to attend the Tax Day Tea Party rally.
I think there were about the same number of people there as last year, perhaps a bit more, because they seemed more tightly packed for some reason. I think it is funny that some people would like to portray these protests as, well, angry mobs. Racists... you know all the rhetoric. What I saw were people exercising their right to assemble and to engage in free speech.
I wasn't present when it happened, but evidently one person WAS escorted off the grounds . He rushed the stage and got to meet the police up close and personal. Oh yeah, he was NOT one of the Tea Party group. Surprised?
The rest of the event was more like a church picnic.

We had our constant companions on the roof... bless their little pea pickin' hearts...

People inside, taking pictures of people outside....

The men in uniform were very evident. And basically had nothing to do most of the day....

I find it interesting that when conservatives march in the streets, they are pretty much ignored by the big media, but if one whacko on the left wearing pink shows up somewhere, they fall all over themselves in a rush to cover THAT. The world is upside down.
That's okay, I can read the book from all different angles, upside down or not, I know how the story ends. ;-) I'm not worried anymore.
But I'm going to keep showing up.
