Sadie Writes A Letter
Fri Aug 20 2010

Yesterday I drove over to the local pet store where I go often to get Ben and Sunny's dog food. I needed to get a muzzle for Sadie so I could give her a bath.
I mentioned to the sales girl that I needed it for my foster Sheltie. The owner heard our conversation and came over to ring me up herself. She gave me a 10 percent discount on my whole order and handed me several small bags of dog treats to take home with me.
I was so grateful for her support and generosity!

So today I took some pictures of Sadie and sent them in a thank you email to the owner of the shop.

Here it is....

Hello,
This is Sadie. I am a Sheltie Rescue dog. I wanted to thank you for my special doggie cookies. I like them very much. It was very nice of you to send them to me, after all, we have never even met!
Do you notice my pretty coat? I had a bath yesterday with my muzzle on and I now smell very sweet. The muzzle didn't scare me at all!
I am trying hard to be a good girl and learn to trust my people so I can find a forever home.
Thank you again for the cookies. The one trick I know is 'shake', so I thought I would show you how I do it.

Many tail wags,
Sadie

Here are the pictures I sent with the email:

I so hope that she can pull it together and move on to a more balanced place within herself. We will do our best to help her get there...

With a "can-do" attitude like that, I'm sure a forever home is in Sadie's future!

Can you come do an intervention at my house next? I don't have a Sheltie, but I have a very badly-behaved mini doxie with no manners or self-control. I know there is no such thing as a bad dog--only Bad Owners. So, I am sheepishly admitting I need help! Teach me your ways, so I can "rescue" dogs, too!

Isn't it nice to have the support of the local community?? My old vet here was fabulous when I was doing Persian and Himi rescue, giving free exams and meds at cost, etc. (there was no local org with funds doing it, just a couple of other cat lovers and me).

It's looking like we may have a new canine in the house for a few weeks and I know my current vet will help out. It's good to foster relationships!

She is a beautiful dog. Would be a shame if biting would keep her from a forever home. Is that why you muzzled her when you bathed her?

Good luck. You're doing a great mitzvah!

    Bless
