I have big plans today.
Wide open spaces plans.
Sunny and Ben don't know it yet, but they are going out into the huge field to the east of us. We usually don't go that way because it's a longer walk just to get to it, but today it is supposed to be 64 degrees and it's sunny and lovely out, so we are having a picnic. I've made lemon bars and challah in honor of the occasion.
But this morning while I'm waiting for the dew to dry on the grasses and the temperature to warm up, I've been playing around with yarn.
A few days ago I knitted and felted a bag for Dory, my knitting mascot. I also made her a nice little shawl. Yes my hens and chickens, I have entered my second childhood. Don't try to stop me. It's a waste of time. I'm a hopeless case. Besides that, I have sharp crafting implements to hand. Better give me some room.
(There are so many opportunities for satire here, my head is spinning.... give me a minute....)
Anyway, here she is this morning in all her finery, ready to knit up a storm:

Now I'll tell you a little secret, just between you and me, because you, my readers will understand...
The fiber that makes up the cream color of the little heart on her knitting bag?
It's a bit of fluff I pulled off of Classy's leg the first time I went to visit her when her coat was growing back in. I was so amazed that she had ANY extra fur she thought she didn't need. Here, I'll show you...

See that little tuft of fur on her back leg that looks loose? Well I pulled it off and have kept it in my desk drawer for this age. This morning I realized just what to do with it. Oh, and the brown yarn around the heart and the handles on the bag are from the rustic hand spun yarn from my friend Pam.
I love knitting.
You can work your best loved friends right into the things you create. And I have been blessed with some of the most excellent friends.
