New Dress With A Side Of Peanut Gallery
Thu Mar 24 2011

Yesterday I embarked on what turned into a day long sewing session.

Now to be honest, I took many breaks to ease the tension.... a seamstress would get the pun.... and ended up doing the hand sewing after dinner.

I'm very happy with the results...

It's very 'me'.

That's the thing about sewing, you get to make something just to your liking, or close to it depending upon your sewing skills. Mine lean toward the plain and simple, but there you have it. I'm not the victorian type.

If I wasn't Jewish, I think I'd be Amish.

(That dress is way too fancy for an Amish girl. Be honest.
The shocking use of plaid. And BUTTONS! Tsk tsk.)

I can't deny it.

I could be the rogue Amish girl. The one who is always getting into trouble with the elders.

(I think we have established you are already in trouble. In MANY areas.)

I want a PINK dress!
Make me a pink dress.
With fairy wings.
And a princess crown!
Sparkly!

Sewing is a decent domestic skill.
But what you SHOULD have made
is a good sturdy apron.
I think I saw some dog urp
on the bedroom rug.
Let's get our priorities right shall we?

Blink, blink.

I live with a crazy bunch of characters, do I not?

(Need I remind you....)

Can it ( ). I have to go clean up dog urp.

Where's my apron?.........

Told you so.

Nicely done and I'm not surprised by the day long session; once you get going on a sewing project it is hard to stop......... the 'just one more seam' syndrome kicks in and before you know it five hours have passed by.

The style may be simple, but I do believe you could wear it with red shoes.........I seem to recall you like those. ;)

That's my favorite style, too. The "empire" style might be rather shapeless, but it sure is comfy.

Oh, and there is someone here either pooping or puking just about every minute of the day, too. It's just another joy of parenting fur kids-- or human children, for that matter.

Lovely! I am a plain and simple kind of gal myself. I was never, growing up in the past 40 years, not into the fad of fashion as most kids my age were along with hairstyles even though my hairstyle did change off and on throughout the years and now I am growing my hair long so I can give it away to Locks of Love in the nearest future.

I'm assuming you changed your mind about the long sleeves? It's hard to believe, but warm weather will be here before we know it so it was probably a good idea! I love the colors and the style is definitely you. I've made a few dresses similar to these over the years.
