Green Apples Give You A Tummy Ache
Mon Apr 25 2011

I have been spending my 'personal computer free' time, which is not unlike an adult version of a 'time out'... watching IMac tutorials on Hub Man's computer.

It has been a mixed bag of 'oh my gosh, that is so cool!' to - 'oh my gosh, this way there be dragons!'

So logically, one could say that in using an IMac, the dragons that you do encounter, will be cool ones. I hope this means I won't get burned.

Hope.

Springs.

Eternal.

***

Speaking of spring. Hub Man repaired our raised beds and tilled up the big one. He enlarged it a bit too and we need to get some bags of soil to fill in a corner, but it is all ready to have tomato plants installed on its hard drive.

(Ahem... you are mixing your metaphors again.)

Oh dear.

Anyway, last night, in a wonderful turn of events, it rained quite nicely and wetted down all the newly tilled soil. Bonus! The only fly in the ointment is that we are having such cool weather. It's not supposed to get out of the 70's for the next ten days according to the weather people. I don't know what my tomato plants will think of this bit of news. But they are getting way too big for their pots and need to launch themselves into the perils of the real garden.

I've been taking all sorts of pictures, but haven't the nerve to negotiate my way around this borrowed computer to post them. So we will have to wait for Mac to show up and for me to learn how to use iPhoto. I get a little stomach ache thinking about it to tell you the truth. I could shuffle my photos around in my sleep on my old computer. As a matter of fact, I could take a picture in the back yard and have it on my diary in less than 10 minutes.

Anyhoo.... time to go read up on how the Apple world works.

And dig out the bottle of Tums.

You'll be polishing that Apple in no time.
    And tomatoes, too I'm sure.
I have complete faith in you.

I have faith in you, too. I think you'll find Mac to be pretty intuitive.

Apple, eh? The Prof swears by his. I retain my applephobia though.

I'm one of those rare animals, a one-time apple lover who got converted to the Windows dark side. Not that I particularly love Windows (there are times I'm tempted to throw my computer through one...), but (being a geek at heart) I prefer to know why my computer is throwing a fit when it does, and to have some chance at being able to kick it back into sense. Macs work wonderfully well until they don't, and then you've got no idea what's going on inside, which gets frustrating. Oh, and I don't like the way they really only play nicely with other Apple products, so you end up having everything on your desk having an i in front of it.

They are very pretty and shiny though, and I must admit that using Skyring's iPad in America almost tempted me back to the apple world...

Ok, what was just supposed to be "good luck with your new computer, hope you enjoy it" turned into a bit of a rant there... So, good luck with your new computer, hope you enjoy it!
