Hub Man is home with a manly case of sniffles.
I went out and got him some cold medicine, a box of donuts, and a half gallon of orange juice.
(Donuts do not seem the proper food to heal colds to me…)
That's where you would be mistaken. Everybody knows you should give sick people dainty foods to entice them to eat...
(Who's this 'Everybody' you speak of?)
I'm glad you asked. I now quote, "The Settlement Cookbook" 28th edition 1947 under "Invalid Cookery" :
In preparing food for an invalid the follwing points should be kept in mind: The food should be served in the most pleasing manner possible. It should be served in small quantities, suit the digestive powers of the patient, and satisfy hunger or furnish needed strength. It is necessary to take nourishing food in small quantities at frequent intervals. Use the daintiest dishes in the house. Place a clean napkin on the tray, and if possible a fresh flower.
(I distinctly notice the absence of the word 'donut'.)
Donuts 'suit the digestive powers of the patient'.
(That's a bit of a stretch don't you think?)
Nope. I'm just doin' my job.
Moving right along...
I finished a project I have had in my head for quite a little while. I'm very happy with the outcome. Many times I have just the vaguest idea of where I'm going with a felted bag, but this one was an exception. It looks just like I imagined.
Here's the other side...
I needle felted some beautiful Cascade handpainted yarn onto it. That part took about two hours, but I'm happy with it.
Well, off to put a donut on the daintiest dish in the house. And I even have a fresh flower to put on the tray!
(Now you're just showing off.)
Just doin' my job.
With verve.
