'Moonlight' Bay
Wed Jan 25 2012

Yesterday it was so nice out, I took my bike in the late afternoon and rode over to the pond. I interrupted a group of Canadain geese who were laying in the middle of the road, having an afternoon 'time out' of the water. They ALMOST let me ride right by them, but decided I didn't look trustworthy enough for that honor. They are used to a lot of people around them, because they usually hang out over at the lake which is just half a mile away, and has a park. I guess they were slumming over at the pond yesterday. I got this picture of them gliding off... That reflection in the water LOOKS like a huge moon coming up doesn't it? But it's the reflection of a radar dome leftover from the air force base days. They sure are beautiful birds. I want to have birds in my yard. Though maybe not geese. I'm beginning to get really anxious to have a few of these... Ah well, eventually.

Geese are only lovely when they aren't too close to your house. When I lived out by the Sutter Buttes when I was a kid there were thousands of them, heck, TENS of thousands of them in the rice field right behind my house. The noise those things make every night, ALL NIGHT, is DEAFENING. Chickens are much nicer yard birds, and the eggs are a fantastic bonus!

That's a great picture of the geese. I love reflections in the water.

Awesome picture of the geese. It's nice to see that Mr. Beaver's work has some side benefits. :)
