The fruitless pear in the back yard is in full bloom at the moment. I went out there this afternoon and was confronted with the sound of hundreds of bees. Honeybees to be exact. They were out in force, taking advantage of the dry warm day to lay in some pollen. I stayed out of their way.
I've been cleaning house these past few days and have decided that at least half of my cleaning is dog related in one way or the other. They have been tracking in pear blossom petals like crazy, I've been washing throw rugs and their outdoor blankets… which keep getting wet in the rain, and vacuuming up gallons of dog hair. And I must admit that I'm getting a little cranky about it.
They spent most of the day today outdoors in the shade, no doubt listening to the droning of those bees, shedding their hair into the grass for a change.
I took a break from the whole scene today and walked out to the pond.
I was greeted by a new sight.
I have never seen these on the pond before...
Just out of the frame, there was also a white egret. So we had swans, coots, mallards and an egret today. I didn't get a picture of them, but there was also a pair of Canadian geese grazing along the shores of the pond. It's amazing how a little bit of water draws such a plethora of wildlife.
I wonder how a little bit of water would work on my two filthy beasts?
(Add dog shampoo. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.)
Easier said than done.
