I'm astonished at how busy I am.
But then again, there's plenty to do around here.
I had a VERY early errand to do this morning, and when I was finished, I decided to take a quick little run up the road to the creek.
I took my shoes off and bathed my feet in the cool waters, hoping to store up some of that chill to last into the heat of the day.
Fat chance.
It's bang on 100 degrees here right now.
The only good thing about that temperature is that the felted items I just put out on the clothesline, will be dry in no time flat.
And I suppose it's good for ripening corn and tomatoes.
The dogs and I are holed up here in the house like refugees.
My brain is so addled, that I just did something very risky.
There were three overripe bananas on the counter top.
I felt the need to DO something about the overripe bananas.
I put it down to the fact that since I've been hanging out with S., I have learned a thing or two about not wasting food.
She has a PhD in not wasting food.
I only have a Bachelor's degree.
However, the thought of looking up, and following a recipe this afternoon was more than I could face.
So before I could talk myself out of it, I grabbed a bowl, mashed the bananas with a fork and proceeded to add what I thought were the ingredients for a banana cake.
The only things I measured were the baking powder and salt.
(Are you daft?)
I TOLD you my brain was addled.
The cake is in the oven right now.
(God help us all….)
Oh yes, and one more good thing that happened today was that while I was sitting on a rock with my feet in the creek, looking up through the overhanging Alder trees, I got an idea for a small purse to knit.
Something about all that green, and the pale gray trunks of the trees...
(Well, at least you didn't try to make a cake out of THOSE.)
I think YOUR brain, what little you have, is addled by the heat too. No one makes cakes out of trees.
Do they?
Are we SURE about that?
I wonder.
(God help us all…)
