Hot Doesn't Cover It
Mon Aug 13 2012

I'm writing this while it's still cool and my brain cells are still communicating with each other properly. When it gets over 95 degrees, parts of my brain go into "energy save" mode. Whatever comes out of it during those times is not to be trusted. At least the sky is fairly clear here today. We have had a lot of smoke from forest fires this last week. Here is what it looked like the other morning...     S. has returned home from her trip. It will be nice to have the company. I got a little meloncholy while she was gone. Though I did have a break from my solitude. A certain close relative showed up for a few days and set my world back on its proper axis. Isn't he cute in his Hawaiian shirt? He's trying to set his phone to take a picture. It was blasted hot out and our brains were addled, as stated above.   I just went outside to let one of the horses out of his pen, and it feels just like someone is following me around with a broiling unit aimed right at the top of my head. How hot is it? Yesterday afternoon, the thermometer in the garage read 102. I don't really care what the air temperature is, when you are out in the sun right now … that puppy is on "BROIL" Needless to say, I'm holed up in the house, about to play with some yarn. I have an experiment going that I have this gut feeling is not going well. I'll know soon enough, after I throw it into the washing machine. Some things you just have to try, even though you know your chance of success is slim. Okay, I'm going to go drink some more ice water. My fluid of choice. Though if I can get up the courage, I might make up some sun tea. What do you think? Ten minutes out there ought to do it.
