The Autumn Leaves
Fri Nov 16 2012

Rain is coming. So they say. Today looked like a good day for leaf raking. I wandered up the lane to see Mr. P, and he concurred. We set to and raked ourselves right into sore shoulders. We set some of them afire. [The leaves, not the shoulders.]  :-) It was the quintessential autumn activity. And I was very happy for the hard work. It helped me use up some emotional energies that were threatening to overwhelm me completely. I'm continually amazed and delighted with the joys of simple country living. Doing necessary things, and staying in good health while doing them. And when I got home, another neighbor came and borrowed some basil and canned tomatoes. He came back an hour later with a pot of cream of tomato and mushroom soup worthy of ANY snooty restaurant on the entire planet. I would pit his soup against anything Wolfgang Puck could come up with. The three of us ate it with the smell of burning leaves in the distance, and the hush of gathering clouds in the sky. We are warm from wood that we have gathered and stacked ourselves, and full from food that was grown in our own garden, or gathered from the woods nearby. We are the Kings and Queens of the Mountains tonight.   And just for good measure… a little music   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kP8jPa1wCg

this is one of my favourite songs! I've got the Eric Clapton's version on my player. Never fails to set the mood...Autumn is my element. If we were to choose which season to live in for the whole of our life, I would always have Fall...the picture of the leaves is amazing - the light and vintage gold...precious!
