Fare Thee Well
Mon Dec 31 2012

We waved goodbye to our company today. It was a wonderful visit. We spent it in classic 'cabin fever' style by spending Shabbat eating, reading, and napping, interspersed with marathon girl-talk sessions. Bliss. After Shabbos, knitting commenced.  Casting on, frogging , tinking back, split yarn incidents, and a major frogging and repair of muddled stitches was undertaken with resounding success. Dudes, between us both, we have some serious knitting chops. I'm going to miss her, but we have plans for future trips already in the works. We are just waiting for things like this to thaw out….   She comes from a warm climate, and all this frozen stuff was a source of wonder! We haven't seen much of the sun since the 20th of December around here. But today Sol broke through the ice barrier and strutted his stuff….   I will have a chance of getting Suzie Cube out of the driveway if this continues for a few more days. Oh, and lucky me, she gave me her recipe for Cholent. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cholent I must hie me to the grocery store and gather a few ingredients I don't have on hand and give it a go. It has all my favorite things in it. Though it will make a prodigious amount of food. I'll have to share some with the neighbors. It's the perfect food for sustaining one in the middle of the winter. And we DO need sustaining around here. The mountains are not for the faint of heart!
