To Do
Thu Sep 05 2013

Ever have one of those times in life, where everywhere you look, it seems there's something that needs your attention? Well, this is one of those times for me. I have taken to writing them on a white board that I have here at my house whenever I see something that I should do. The white board is no longer white. It's blue and green, because there's so much writing on it now. I'm prone to getting paralyzed by too many choices, and it goes about the same when there are too many chores. I'm afraid I'm going to have to sit down and prioritize that list. Only thing is it keeps getting bigger every hour that goes by. How am I going to prioritize a list that is growing? I may have to go back to the little slips of paper in a bowl trick and put them in two bowls. One will be the 'can wait' bowl, and the other the 'better do this soon' bowl. Maybe I'll alternate between them. At least I'll get the thrill of a little surprise when I pull a chore out of the bowl. Sorta like the lottery. In reverse. (You need psychiatric help. Where IS that duck anyway?) He went on an extended leave of absence because we had no bathtub. Maybe I should call him to let him know we solved that problem. (I'm sure he'll be thrilled.)   lime wild

I totally sympathise with that feeling. My usual response is to give up and go and read a book - not the most constructive solution, but it makes me feel better :-)

I usually do my prioritising by "can do it quickly", "needs more of an effort", usually "dothemquickly" tends to be longer, so once I have done them quickly, I've got left with just a few...faulse sense of achievement. works for me though ;-) take a deep breath and the priorities will fall naturally, once you stop thinking too much over them ;-)

In the absence of a certain duck, I offer the following advice on setting priorities. All you need is a red pen to add to your blue and green. Red = Urgent - no knitting until it's done and erased from the board! Green = Important - you should do this before knitting, but the world won't fall apart if you take a short (30 minute) knitting break. Blue = In a Perfect World - would sure be nice to have this done, but it will still be there when I finish knitting this bag. And there you have it, the perfect priority setting system. I hope it helps. ;)
