Flakes
Fri Dec 06 2013

They said it was coming. I didn't believe it. Too clear and cold last night. No sign of a storm. No wind. No nothing. Turns out I don't know jack about weather prediction. My years of experience in this place don't mean diddly squat any more. It began snowing about an hour ago... First Snow2   My house is staying warmer this winter, because I put up plastic on the outside of my living room windows… AND another layer on the inside. For a while, I thought I was being silly, but turns out it made a big difference. My living room is actually comfortable now even on the cold days. Last winter? Not so much. I did a lot of hovering around Bruce. I spent an excruciating amount of time yesterday hand sewing the zipper into the little green knock off bag. I poked my fingers several times with pins AND the needle.   .\/. Though I must say, now that the annoyance is fading, I like the result. Green Final3 Green Final2 Green Final   Sort of like childbirth. Somehow the ordeal fades once the baby is in your arms. But dudes, I don't know if zippers are going to be my thing going forward. I would have to add a full 20 dollars to the price of a bag if someone really thought they HAD to have a zipper. Since it's a snowy day, and the wood shed is full, I think I'll bake some whole wheat sugar cookies. And I also have a collection of meatless meatball recipes I want to try. I printed them all out yesterday, and I'm ready to give one a go. Any excuse to turn the oven on and add to the fight against the chill outdoors. Stay warm my friends. [Those of you down under may want to ignore that advice.]   :-)   lime wild

I'm not minding the little flakes coming down one bit, but tomorrow night is supposed to get down to ZERO and I will NEVER be ready for THAT. Love the purse. Good work!

Our High today was a whopping 28 degrees and we got about a inch of snow. I am cold just looking at it. I think you made a wise choice putting plastic over the windows. We didn't and can sure feel the cold coming off of them. Brrrr...... think I'll go stand by the wood stove again. :) The bag is cute, but you could not pay me enough to sew in the zipper by hand. Actually, I'm not sure you could pay me enough to sew it in by machine either. They may be handy closures, but they are a pain to install.

We have more than enough warm here to go around, especially for those of us not cleared to go in the water yet! I tried a wonderful incredibly simple recipe the other day for broccoli and cheese patties, though I did cheat and add some bacon they were simply divine! I used to have a meatless meatball/meatloaf recipe but I don't know what became of it. please share if you find one thats particularly good.

The zipper turned out great Congrats!! You should charge extra, just tracking down the correct zipper for anything is a huge pain. I love the way it came out really pretty. I am glad you came up with a better insulation solution. I grew up in Northern Mich. and we had storm windows we put up every year, but those that didn't put up the plastic and it makes a huge difference. We did not realize how bad our front door was till yesterday. Needs new weatherstripping. I know snow can be difficult but think of it as a treat from Mother Nature for the watershed. Especially if it is in those beautiful mountains around you.

glad your nesting is working out better this year. Just keep that lantern handy in case of power outages! The zipper looks really good! It adds to the bag, and I am sure it was "meant to be." HOpefully your fingers have recovered!
