Naming Day
Mon Nov 10 2014

Nine weeks. Nine weeks since this... two   Here are our two girls now: nineweeks1   I don't think I have ever watched a creature grow and change so quickly. So, names. Since I can't think of anything else when I see this pullet, but a pheasant.... her markings and coloring just shouts that to me, I decided to give her a name that starts with Ph.... Here's Phoebe: nineweeks2   And the littlest chick, the one that seems most like Lydia in temperament... Goldie: nineweeks3   I think she is going to be a stunning hen when she is full grown.   Here they are this morning, sun bathing with Lydia... DSCN5349   They follow the sun all around during the day. Here they are catching the last rays in the coop yesterday: nineweeks4   I don't have a picture of it, but the other night when I went out to close up the coop, I found these two cuddled up on either side of their Auntie Jane. She's the biggest and fluffiest of the flock. I think Lydia enjoyed the break to tell you the truth.  :-) It's a glorious November day today. I've been outside most of the morning puttering around. It's hard to stay indoors. Soon enough the snow will fly. I'm taking advantage of these mild days. I wonder what the hens will think of snow?   lime-wild
