I have gone through my life... all its ups and downs, elations, and catastrophes pretty much stone cold sober.
Basically, I can't hold my liquor.
Literally.
The stuff can go down... but it is fond of coming right back up. In fairly short order.
Consequently, I gave up drinking when I was about 20.
(Wow, that was a L O N G time ago huh?)
Thank you for pointing that out.
(Always happy to be of assistance.)
Sigh.
However.
I have been on a bender ever since we last spoke here on the blog.
A full blown, no holds barred, binge.
Only it's not alcohol I'm indulging in.
It's wool.
Woven wooly wonders...
Yesterday, when I found myself weaving and watching episode after episode of Fraiser on Netflix, and ending up being late to a weekly get together of my very best friends, because I just HAD to tie up the fringe on the pink one there.... I realized that perhaps I needed to sober up.
A little.
Today I have stepped AWAY from the loom and am making myself useful in the kitchen.
Lemon curd, hard boiled eggs, potato soup, and no bake peanut butter balls are on the agenda. I'm taking a break here while the potatoes cook. I'm trying real hard to use up all my potatoes from the garden last year before they sprout too much. They are in the pump house and have little tiny sprouts on them right now. I figure two more potato dishes will use them up. Anyone have a favorite way to use potatoes you'd like to pass on? I'm open.
I am going to take a little hair of the dog this afternoon though in the wool department. I'm going to de-tub my yarn and sort it. I must find some appropriate fiber to warp the loom with. Because truly, I cannot abide this...
It needs to look more like this:
And by the way, if you ever thought you might like to give weaving a go, I can highly recommend this little loom. The Ashford SampleIt loom.
Awesome.
But slightly dangerous to those of you who are susceptible to wool fumes.
You might want to choose a designated weaver to check in on you from time to time to make sure you are bathing, getting some fresh air, and eating regular meals, etc.
Just sayin'.
