The Battle of the Seasons
Tue Apr 07 2015

We are having a little bit of Winter spill over into Spring around here. One day it's so balmy and warm, one gets inspired to drag one's poor neglected bicycle out of the shed and air up the tires. I also washed it down, cleaned the seat which was thinking about getting some white mold on it, and oiled up the chain. DSCN6131 After this spiff up, I rode it into town to visit with some friends. I'm very glad to have my wheels available again.  :-) The next day it could look like this:snow   Kinda hard to see, but yeah... snowing. We have seen so little of it this winter, it's photo worthy when it DOES fall. Then.... just like that.... the next day it's sunny. On one of those sunny days,  I asked Mr. P if I could borrow his gas mower to mow down the grass and weeds that were growing all around the outside of my garden area. He said he had a better idea. And by golly, he did. J.R. took care of it. DSCN6138 He spent one day on this side of the garden and another on the far side. It's all tidy now, and J.R. got to eat some seriously tasty greenery. On the blustery and rainy days, I have been experimenting with cotton yarn on the loom... DSCN6129 Someday I would like to make kitchen towels. This loom is not wide enough, so at some point, I hope to get a bigger one. For now I have to be content to goof around with teaser projects. Here's another sample with thinner yarn... DSCN6172a In other areas of life... I decided a few weeks ago to plant a field. For the hens. So I blocked off a corner of the run and planted wheat and clover. The clover is taking its time growing. It has sprouted, but is just sitting there contemplating its cotyledons. The wheat however doesn't seem inclined to philosophy and is making a run for it. DSCN6133     Red Hen Lecturing   She planted a field of wheat... all my herself.... I'm so ... proud... SNIFF!   Last but not least... the continuing obsession: DSCN6178a   My sister-in-law gave me a little ball of fine yarn. As soon as I saw it, I knew it would make something special. I used every inch I could. I think I had about 14 inches left over! I love it so much! So I'm not wasting my time while Spring and Winter duke it out for supremacy. Though I AM imagining how nice it would be to sit out on the front porch with my loom and weave in the fresh air. Now THAT is something to look forward to.   lime-wild
