Every creature deserves a name.
Her's is Jill.
She's the odd girl out. the youngest, and a different breed... in the literal sense.
She doesn't hang with the other girls very much. They won't allow it.
Chicken social structure is pretty severe.
Though my friend N. thinks that Jill will one day rule the roost.
The other hens do not allow her to sleep there.
She goes there during the daytime, when no one else is at all interested in the roost.
She's trying it on for size.
Standing, and sitting. Measuring for curtains... you know. Planning for her day of triumph.
In other news...
Lydia and Jane are in the slammer together today.
Jane, who WAS laying eggs decided to go broody again. SO SOON?
I put them together in the boring shelter to re-think the whole broody issue.
To swipe a Stars Wars reference....
