The Burning Sun And A Transformation
Thu Aug 06 2015

I woke up extra early this morning and decided to get my walk over with before the demands of the day caught me up in their tentacles. As I was returning to the house I looked behind me to see this: DSCN7050 How the sun looks when there are forest fires. Beautiful and sad at the same time. But mostly beautiful. *** A few weeks ago, I went to a yard sale and found the most delicious linen duvet and dust ruffle. They were brand new. For 20 dollars! I love linen. Such an old world fabric. You can't really tame it. It's never formal. It's cool and forgiving. It embraces its wrinkles and makes them look good. It's made of wonderful. I sometimes see linen clothing in second hand stores, but often they are not my size, so I leave them with regret and longing Not any more. I've decided to buy them. Always. And find something to use the fabric for. I told a friend about my quest and asked her to be on the lookout. [She is a prodigious second hand store shopper and has the absolute GIFT of finding the best stuff in the place!] Well, on her last trip, she found a sleeveless linen blouse and brought it to me. I, in my zeal to start my project, forgot to take a photo of the blouse. Sorry. But here's what I made with it... DSCN7056l This pillow is stuffed with wool trimmings from a friend who is a saddle maker. [Have I ever mentioned that I have the coolest friends EVER?] Anyway, I have been saving the bags of wool for a couple of years. He gives me one each time I visit. Today they met their destiny. What's YOUR favorite fabric?   lime-wild
