Define Drought. . .
Tue Mar 03 2009

Ben and Fiona are chasing each other around the living room. Sunny is refereeing.
She only steps in when she thinks things are getting too rowdy. Fiona is in total control of the situation actually. Don't tell Ben. I don't think he could handle it.

It's a rainy day schedule here today.  It is cold too. I'm wondering if the Governor has been misinformed about the 'drought'.  I wonder if how much water we have to get until they call that off? My back yard is squishy like a wet sponge. And the dogs have cabin fever, even though they got to do this yesterday when we had a break in the weather...

Ben has all four legs off the ground :-)

Here's an artsy shot:

I was happy to see the sun. Ben posed nicely for it didn't he?

Today I am bracing myself to make a foray into the weather to obtain provisions.
I have been keeping a list for lo these many days...

The rumors of my organizational skills are highly overrated. I start out with chaos.
Trust me.

Well, I'm going to bundle up, put on my warm socks, fetch my umbrella and sallie forth into the 'drought'.

Huzzah!

(Only this pitiable woman can try to make grocery shopping sound like a military campaign. Maybe we could take up a collection to get her some professional help...
Wait a minute, where the heck is that worthless Quack? It's time he earned his keep around here. I'm makin' a phone call.)

That Ben is truly a gorgeous specimen of his breed. And, yes, he posed very nicely!

About the "drought." Normal to date is 15.01 inches of rainfall. So far we are at 12.32 inches. My calculator says we're still 2.69 inches low. Add that to the past five years of scanty rain, and you come up with drought. But take heart. It's still only February, and weather people are saying this rain will go on for a while. Maybe we can catch up for at least this year.

I read recently that Folsom Lake is down to 25% of capacity. That's going to take a LOT of rain to overcome that deficit!

So while I'm yearning for sunshine, I'm blessing the wet stuff. At least for a while.

    Bless

That Ben is one handsome dude.

I guess it takes a lot more to water crops than we think, being a farming state.
    But what do I know?

I'm beginning to think all politicians are turning into Chicken Little and calling out the alarm, "The sky is falling! The sky is falling!"
They should all move over and let a homemaker do the budgets. If you ain't got it, you don't spend it.

But that's for another day, I suppose.
How did I get started on THAT?
Oh yea. You mentioned the Govenator.
    Pffffft.

Lovely shot of Ben. I hear Ben, Sunny and you met my granddaughter Jule (the pug) the other day and chatted with Shawn. Nice to have them in the hood! I doubt the drought will be recalled. We are still 2 1/2 inches below the norm right now and this is the 3rd year in a row we have not gotten enough rain. At least it will not be as bad as it could have been!
