To The Persistant, The Spoils
Mon Mar 02 2009

It's raining here.
Again.
And we are all thankful.

This has provided me with perfect conditions to produce a few things in the kitchen this morning...

Two of my favorites:

 I feel wealthy.

I have also been busy on other fronts...

I became addicted to these hats right after I made the first one. The woman at our knitting guild who takes the chemo hats to the hospital for us said that they needed more hats for men. So I got to work.  I have one more like the brown in the picture still on the needles that I will most likely finish today. I have really enjoyed making them.

The poor dogs are pretty antsy because they haven't had a decent run since last week. It has just been too rainy to take them out. Although I'll bet if I gave them a vote, they would laugh at the rain as long as they were off leash and able to follow their noses...

Now that's what I call
a good morning's work.
What do you have planned
for the afternoon?

I never catch a break around here....

Ooooo. I can almost smell the bread.

I absolutely *must* lay in a supply of flours and yeast. My breadmaker is sitting over there looking all dusty and neglected.

Poor dogs. There's nothing quite like a wet, smelly dog. But oh! what fun they have getting that way.

    Bless

Yummy looking goodies! I broke down and got some yeast and bread flour and intend to give things a go. Don't worry, you'll probably be able to hear the explosion on your end of the country *grins*

If we don't get some decent weather around here there's going to be a canine revolt sooner rather than later. The high today was 27, which isn't so bad, but the windchill had it down to around 11 so prolonged exposure of house dogs and house moms wasn't really in the cards. A few minutes was about all Chance and I could handle. Maggie, on the other hand, probably wouldn't notice if her nose froze, fell off, and shattered on the ground so long as she was OUT.

RYC: "Pop a sprog" is (rather crude) NZ slang for giving birth. "Sprog" or "sproglet" means child (though now that I come to think of it, I've got no idea why - maybe there's some connection with the word progeny? Or maybe it's just because of the symmetry of it rhyming with "pop your clogs" (i.e. die)).
