So I went over to the art gallery on Friday.
They had live music. A guitar player who was accompanied by a flautist every third or fourth song. It's a pretty small place, so that was the right kind of music. There was a modest sized crowd, but friendly, and I got to feast my eyes on some very inspiring art from the students. It's a pretty eclectic place, as I mentioned with lots of different kinds of art.
Metalwork:
Gourds:
I really liked that green one.
And this one rather defied description... but was very appealing. :-)
This gourd incorporated pine needle basket techniques that are taught by one of the resident artists...
Then there were the watercolors...
I got to talk to the artist who painted these trees and I had to stop her from trying to point out all her 'errors'.
Poppycock.
I loved it.
I found my paintings...
And finally, my favorite piece from the student art...
I just love this thing... I could not tell you why exactly. I'd need to study it for a while. But it just pushes my buttons. The artist wasn't present, so I couldn't tell her how much I admired it. Though I did tell the teacher of the class that I would love to buy this one if it was for sale. I hope to meet her one day. I decided that I wanted to take a series of classes and plan to start with the next one available. It's time.
