I feel out of tune with the collective consciousness. Our family is not having Thanksgiving dinner today. Because of my brother's work schedule, we are celebrating on Sunday instead.
While everyone else is eating leftovers, we'll be eating first overs.
I'm already looking forward to green bean casserole. :-)
I think I have made up my mind on the 'non-traditional' pie. I'm going to make a raisin walnut pie. It's something I've always thought sounded interesting, and one of my daughter-in-laws is very fond of raisins. Though she won't be here for Thanksgiving, I thought I would experiment on myself instead of her. If it's a good pie, then next time she visits, I'll be able to bake it for her with a test run under my belt.
Yesterday I took the cotton towels off the loom and threw them in the washer and dryer. It seemed a little nerve wracking to take something I had so carefully woven and toss it in with a load of socks and t-shirts, but that's what I did. They are meant for regular every day utlitarian use, so they need to be able to handle lots of washing.
They passed the test.
The yarn is a little to bulky for them to be good for drying dishes, but they would make nice placemats. And I have been using one for a hand towel in the bathroom and have found it soft, nice and drapey, and very absorbent.
Here's a little sample towel I made on the little loom with lighter weight cotton and linen yarn. There's quite a difference...
I'm still on the learning curve, so there's plenty of experimenting in my future.
Time to get the bin of cotton yarn down out of the cupboard and start warping the loom again.
