I know I have an unnatural fascination with the ice pond.
I admit it.
But, when what is normally a rather nice little meadow 99% of the time turns into a rather impressive body of water instead, I cannot ignore it. Especially when it is just steps from my back porch!
It has been raining hard and steady since around 7 this morning on top of our recent snow, melting it at an alarming rate.
Mr. P says that this is as high as he has ever seen the pond.
Right where Sunny is walking, there is usually a little land bridge that separates the main pond with a hole that someone dug for an unknown reason. This is the first time I have ever seen them merge.
It could have something to do with this...
Water from two different sources up the hill.
I climbed a fence to go stand on the dam...
The dam has quite a lot of gaps through the rocks that are piled there, so lots of water gets out, which is a good thing. But the volume of water that is rushing down the hill is making the leaks seem insignificant right now.
We can only rejoice in all this rain and snow, even though I imagine there's going to be some flooding in certain places. But thanks to a leaky dam, we aren't too worried here on the edge of the woods.
Yet.
