I have eight or nine mature lavender plants in my yard and garden now. And at least six that are young ones. It's the one plant that is guaranteed to grow unmolested by the deer. So I have gone a little crazy in planting so many over the years. This is the time to harvest the flowers and it's become quite a production. Here' the second cutting:
I had a batch just like this that I already processed. In the warm temperatures that we are having they dry out in about three days. It's a good thing because this year is a bumper crop!
This bunch was cut from two mature plants and two young ones. I really like this variety. It has lovely long stems and if my nose is accurate, seems to have the most aromatic flowers.

This is a shorter variety and I'm sorry to say I cannot remember the name of it. I couldn't stop taking pictures of them...
This year I hope to try something new with my lavender. I have been researching how to make a tincture with them. It involves procuring a bottle of vodka. Luckily I have a very good friend who has offered to give me one because of lack of interest in their household for the thing. When I get that, I'll document the process and we will see how it turns out.
But for now, my house is redolent of fresh lavender which is is conducive to a relaxed and pleasant mood. I could certainly use that because in about an hour it will be so hot outside, I'll be housebound till the sun goes down.
