Winter Ready & Inkvent # 10
Sun Nov 03 2024

Today was a glorious day. The temperatures were mild, little wind, clear skies. I decided it was a good day to button up my outdoor jobs. I drained and put up the garden hoses, put away the tools, removed all the leaves and sticks from the front porch [again], filled the wood box, sawed up a chunk of limb so it will fit in the wood stove, and generally got the place ready for winter. It was very satisfying. I feel well and truly finished out there. That doesn't happen very often around here!

But before I went to work outdoors, I made my ink test page. Today it was play before work. A strategy I hope to employ more often.

Today is number 10 of 25.

This ink said 'Star Bright' on the side of it. I had to look that up. Evidently it's a super shimmery ink. They aren't kidding. This closer look shows the .... what I am calling, 'micro-glitter'. There are a few spots at the bottom that look like mercury!

I'm finding it a real challenge getting good pictures of these pages. I keep trying different light and angles and exposures. The kind of sad thing about this one is that if you blot it on a paper towel with some water, it separates into three colors, one of which is a gorgeous turquoise! I want to try to get a shot of that. BRB>

Okay, I put two or three drops of the ink on some paper towel, then dropped water on it. All the shimmer bits go to the center and the ink itself separates into two colors. I'm amazed by the different properties of these inks. It's fascinating to me.

I'm in love with that turquoise! 💗

That's really nice that one! Weird how it goes on the paper towel though.
