Spring has arrived in earnest.
As proof, I just tilled some of the garden. My goal is to plant grass in the last pathway. I think I will leave the remaining open spot as old-fashioned growing area with no raised beds. I think I can face doing some weeding in that area. We'll see how I feel about this decision in the fall. 🤔
I am in the final preparations for Passover today. I have burned my chametz*. And in a little while I will be making my favorite food of Pesach. Charoset! It's a mixture of ground up nuts, dates, apples, honey, and cinnamon. A perfect thing to eat on a piece of matzah that has no flavor of its own but gets to be a civilized delivery system for the divine charoset!
This year, Pesach falls on the eve of Shabbat, so there are all kinds of changes to the usual observances. I had to make myself a script of what to do and when under these conditions. It's been kind of fun, but a bit nerve wracking too.
This morning, before diving into this busy day, I sat down and made this doodle to calm said nerves. It worked!
*Chametz refers to leavened foods that are forbidden to Jews during the holiday of Passover. It includes any food made from one of five types of grain (wheat, barley, oats, spelt, and rye) that has been combined with water and allowed to ferment for more than eighteen minutes.
