Shakespeare Therapy
Mon Oct 25 2004

And since you know you cannot see yourself,
so well as by reflection, I, your glass,
will modestly discover to yourself,
that of yourself which you yet know not of.
(William Shakespeare)

Today was a Shakespeare's Day for me...Don't you feel it sometimes, that you really really in need of a good deep piece of poetry?

I've re-read one of my favourite's - The Taming of the Shrew. I've read it in translation before, but never felt I can cope with the original (well, not that much "original", as it was a modern adaptation of it anyway). However it wasn't too bad and I thoroughly enjoyed the reading...

I smiled, I laughted, I witnessed love, I enjoyed the humour...I feel good after Shakespeare's Therapy :-)

Why do I feel the need to write about it? Hmmmm...I don't know - just - sharing out the pleasure of great art.

When I was in theater some years ago, I did Kate's monologue after she had been "tamed," as part of my finals exam.

The "original English" is a bit difficult as the meaning of words has changed somewhat, and some words seem totally foreign.

Yeah, Will is a good read sometimes.

    Shalom

I am afraid to admit I have not really read Shakespeare. Had to as a teen in high school, it never made sense to me, so I never tried again.
