When I think sometimes about my ex and the woman he is now with, I used to think and say about her – “his other woman” Somebody on Daily Strength site noted this is not logically correct. That at some point of ended relationships that person must become ex’s girlfriend or whatever. If we keep referring to them as “the other”? doesn’t this makes us as if “ the real one” or “the one that should be”? I didn’t think of it before I found it mentioned. But now, of course, I do think of it and of how this is so very true with the way it feels. Guess, if I’m no longer referring to myself as a “wife”, it’s only fair to let my ex to be a separate entity as well…
speaking of which…what I found ironically funny in a weird sort of way. ..there are different ways of marriage legislation in different countries. In Russia we’ve got marriage certificate as well as a “stamp” in the passport of the marriage status. So when it is over, the divorce procedure involves legal annulations of the certificate and getting another stamp into passport. Now, of course we came in UK as a married couple, but never had to “confirm” or “legalise” marriage certificate here. So, in a way, banks, registries, everything literally “trusted” our words being true about being married. So when a thought of divorce came to my mind, I was confused about how I can go about it. There are no legal records in this country to be overwritten with Divorce stamp or whatever the rules are. It looks like while I’ve been living here, I wasn’t even officially married?!...what a bollocks, I’d say. But I can’t see easy ways how to make divorce official, if you don’t have any proofs that you've been married in the first place…doesn’t this make my whole marriage - a mirage? LOL…I found it funny…
