Return Of The King
Sat Dec 27 2003

If you haven’t seen it yet…..

You gotta go to LOTR, the Return of the King.

No excuses now, get yourself out the door and go see it.

Take hankies.

What a fantastic movie, and what a great story it is.

Tolkien dealt with ALL the great themes of humanity. I don’t think he left any out. One would have to be a stone not to be moved by his storytelling.

As I have mentioned before, I never read the books. But now I think I will have to do so, out of sheer honor.

Something Tolkien seemed to know a great deal about.

I won’t keep you now. Get the car keys. (go pee before you leave the house) and get out there and see the movie ASAP!

But maybe I should see the first two first? My sister gifted us with them for Christmas this year, I'll have to get started I suppose. ;o)

You will love the books, I'm starting to re-read them again now. You're right about ROTK there were a few moments where I found myself with a lump in my throat. I was sad that there wasn't more Gimli and Legolas but you can't have everything.

I read the whole thing twice back in 8th grade. Seeing the movies and re-living the adventure makes me realize what a great story Tolkien's tale truly is. Often imitated (esp. poorly by Terry Brooks--yuck!) but never surpassed, LotR stands the test of time and generations. Joseph Campbell would be thrilled, I'll bet.
