Creek Trek Part Two
Wed Mar 03 2004

Many thanks to Allimom for her advice about re-sizing pictures! It was easy! I hope this helps a little in the downloading time for some of you.

Here is a temporary pond formed by the runoff from our storms. It will stay like this for many weeks I imagine.

On the way back into "civilization", I noticed this bird nest in a very low tree. I could not believe the birds felt safe here. It was just at my eye level. (What were they thinking?)

And my favorite shot of the day:

I wish the camera could record how the sun looked that day. This picture is nice but brighter than it looked in person.

It rained on and off all day today. I was sitting at the kitchen table eating my lunch when I saw a little bird land on the porch pillar. I looked him up later in the bird book. It was a Blacktailed Gnatcatcher. Itty Bitty thing. Well, he was checking out the underside of our porch roof as a possible nesting site. He sat there and looked it over this way and that, and then this way again. He flew up there two times to see if there was a likely spot to build. I doubt he was happy with the striaght stucco walls and roof. It made me want to run out there and glue a platform for him to use. But then I remembered the stupid Starlings. I don't want to invite THOSE messy houseguests. So I am sorry to say, there will be no place for the Gnatcatcher. Unless he likes the look of the peach tree. . . I wonder how I could entice him to move in there instead? How about no security or cleaning deposits?

The pictures are lovely. We have a pond just like that in our neighborhood, it's filling up today for certain.

We have frontyard birds and backyard birds. For some reason the ones in the front rarely come and eat from the feeders in the back. I've got a feeder in the front that they use as a result. I can't have hungry birds in my yard, can I? ;o)

I love these pictures they're so restful to look at. That's what I miss most about being in Liverpool is that there isn't a decent view.

Maybe a games room or study would entice the bird or a life time supply of pine nuts?

    Hugs

Great, you found a way to make the pics smaller. Very cool. ;-)
