For about 2 months now, I have been reading Wil Wheaton's Weblog. For those of you who don't know him, he played Wesley on "Star Trek The Next Generation". He has a really nice web site and is writing books now as I gather. But what I want to share with you is the short story he just posted this last week in four parts. It's called "Lying in Odessa"

It's the story of him going someplace shady to play poker. I will warn you, he does use some language, but it is still an engaging bit of writing. I especially love his candor. He reminds me of one of my own sons. Which of course could explain my fondness for the boy.... :-) Anyway, here is the link:

Will Wheaton's Blog

I actually wrote the dreaded transitional chapter in my novel yesterday. I can't tell you what a block I had with that! But from this point on, the story flows a lot more naturally. There is more action for one thing, and I like the whole thing a lot more. I think I can see how I was getting into the story by now in the first draft. For the first 50 pages, I was getting my "writers legs" so to speak. I know I will have to go back and re-do these pages again, but they at least hang together now with some coherency. Now the fun begins.
I am trying not to be so anal about getting it ALL right this time through. Otherwise I will get stuck.

I also have a a cross stitch project about 2/3 completed that I need to get in the mail by about the 12th of this month. I need to spend some time on it. I made great strides in the afternoon, now I just need to keep it up. And I even worked on my gourd a bit yesterday. It's almost finished now. I will take a picture of it soon and share!

I have been a busy bee !

I've been to his blog, it's very nice. I'll check out the story.

Hurry up and finish your cross-stitch (easy for me to say, I know), I want to see the pictures. I should be out there crocheting myself... point made, off I go. :o)

Funny that you should mention gourds. I never see one without thinking of you now. There are lots of DD authors that I think of when I see various things. For example, I always think of Salamander at the vet's office, always think of Mango Rain when I see mangoes or India related things, and I always think of Eliezer when I see tzitzit, or really, tassels of any kind.

Gads. I thought Will Wheaton must have dropped of the face of the earth. It's apparently a pity they didn't let him write his own line. I might have liked Wesley then.
