Yesterday afternoon, I went back to the creek to see how things are going over there. I took our digital camera with me and took a bunch of pictures.
The sky was overcast, but the sun was trying hard to peek through the haze. It was the beginnings of the clouds that are now sprinking rain on us. Nothing major.
With all the recent rain, the creek was quite respectable as far as water levels were concerned, and I could see some places where it had gone out of its banks a few days earlier. The high water moved the stuffed bear downstream about 30 feet or so. He is now standing on his head. I couldn't get to him to pull him out of there. The water is still too high, and I'll bet he weighs a ton.
I didn't take a picture of him, it seemed indelicate to take a picture of his soggy butt sticking out of last year's dead cattail reeds. His predicament is sorry enough without it being displayed around the world. But it is my plan to get him out of there eventually.
Here is the creek with a Live Oak growing near.

And Here is a picture of the grassy hill that falls away to the creek bed. I was wishing I had a horse yesterday. He would like the fresh grass. In some places there was a nice smattering of clover growing with the grasses. Something that would delight a horse no end.

And finally, for today, here is a shot of what I think is a kind of mustard that grows all over the place around here. It comes in White, yellow, pale lavender, blue and for the first time, I found this pink variety.

I have more pictures, but I don't want to put too many on at once as I know they take some time to load. I don't know how to make them smaller. Another thing to learn how to do....
Anyway, it was a nice walk. I am going to do it more often.
