August Homestead Report
Fri Aug 14 2015

Did I tell you about the dog house? I can't remember. Well, here's the story: N. my friend and I went to a yard sale recently. It was one of those unfortunate ones where people had to move everything out of a rented house. While I was there, I noticed a pretty nice dog house on the front porch and was looking it over. The lady asked me if I had a dog and I told her yes I did, but I didn't say anything about buying the dog house. But I guess she decided I was a likely candidate for taking it off her hands and she offered it to me for free. I was sort of stunned. I murmured something incoherent I'm sure, and hemmed and hawed a bit, and finally agreed. It takes me a little bit to process whether I want to take on an object, free or not. So we brought it home. I had to clean out a corner of Sunny's pen for it and hopefully today I will put in in there and see how she likes it. Doghouse1 I think she may have some reservations about it too. But she needs a place to get out of the rain when I have to leave her all day in the pen. Here she is, trying to look enthused: Doghouse2   In other areas of the homestead there are chores that can no longer be ignored... Here's my hobby for the next few weeks: hobby This wood is now dry and ready to stack. And I seem to have lost my wand from Olivanders, more's the pity. So I'm going to have to stack it the old fashioned Muggle way. In the corner of Mr. P's property, there sits the material for one of my new raised beds... pole Just add chain saw. The lumber yard called yesterday to tell me my raised beds were ready for delivery. I won't be putting them in the garden yet, but I do need to to some measuring to make myself a map and decide how to arrange them. I feel very hopeful about this whole venture. (Right now, hope is about all you have Cupcake. Hard to put that on a plate and have it for dinner ya know.) Excuse me now, I'm going to consult the internet gods and see if I can find a recipe for fricassee of punctuation. If I do, I'm going to serve it with Hope Sauce. So there.   lime-wild

"Trying to look enthused..." No kidding! That's the face that says, "...is she thinking of leaving me out here?"

It's hard to get excited about a box without a roof. I'm sure she will be more enthusiastic when all is assembled and the the day is drippy wet.
