Juice Shortage - Film at Eleven
Wed Jun 23 2004

I think I have realized, that I most definitely have a finite amount of creativity.

So THAT must be why I am not raking in the dough from all my worldwide book sales!

Whoda thunk it?

A lot of my creative juice allotment has been used up lately writing weblog reviews. I am sure that some of the recipients of my reviews would argue with the QUALITY of my creative juices, but that is neither here nor there.

What IS pertinent to this discussion, is that I sometimes spend an hour and a half working up a weblog review, submit it to the webmaster, and then end up sitting here staring at the Bloggar screen, motionless, empty headed and grumpy, trying to come up with something to post on my OWN blog that I would not rip to shreds, were I reviewing myself!

Occupational hazard I guess.

I could get a comment something like this.....

"The author often blathers on about not knowing what to write about in her blog.
Why doesn't she just give us a break and take a day off? Get back to us when you have something intelligent to say there cupcake."

I wonder if this reviewer knows our grouchy friend, ( )?

(Never heard of the crank.)

Oh, there you are. How's things?

(Pretty good until you started writing drivel again.)

Uh oh.

I suppose the source of this self-indulgent doubtfest on my part, is that my diary is 3rd on the list to be reviewed at Weblog Review. I admit to a certain nervousness. I wonder if I could review myself? Think I could be objective?

(Oh boy, somebody get her out of here. I'm gonna commit an act of violence. I swear.)

Looks like I'm done for the day, don't it?

i hate to sound like a smartaleck know it all but when you said you were going to do these reviews i predicted that this would be how you would feel the handwriting is on the wall yetzirah some things make you feel ultra cool like shabbat some other things make you feel bad
oh well maybe you will change how you feel about it and cope or else break the chains if people complain about the reviews i think they are being childish they asked for an objective opinion
as far as your review is concerned it is only one opinion and there are lots of opinions on the planet and i think you are the best yetzirah i thoroughly enjoy your beautiful writing and your sensitivity

Hey, don't be so tough on yourself. The whole process of being creative has ebbs and flows. When you take a lot out of that creative pool you've got to put something back. Go and do something you love, like sit in your beautiful garden or create something with your hands, or window shop or look at art. Whatever. Hope this helps. ;-)

Well.....you could write a review and see how objective you are. Better yet, you might let Mrs. Manic or someone else from the gang write it. I am quite certain someone there could arrive at some level of objectivity. :)

Ah ... the danger of omphaloskepsis while studying the navels of others: you see so much lint everywhere else that you feel obligated to keep searching for lint in your own, even when it isn't there.
