Promises Promises
Sat Oct 02 2004

I am passing on one of my perks as a Weblog Reviewer. Here is a link to a wonderful new blog by a man who has just begun his teaching career in Alaska. I promise you will like it. And I don't make promises very often. Check it out here: Tuntutuliak

Well let me see. Watched the debate last night. I would say it was a draw for style, but give an edge to Bush for substance, and an edge to Kerry for living in a good solid fantasy world. It's a healthy thing to have an active fantasy life, as I well know. He kept telling us he had a plan. But didn't give us a very clear picture of what that plan was. I get the feeling that he feels with his great charisma, he is going to get Chriac to turn into a real boy just like Pinnochio.

One thing that kind of sticks in my craw about his rhetoric is that he keeps saying we need this magical "coalition" to really get anything done right. We HAVE a coalition, which includes England and Australia among many others. It just does not happen to include France ( I'm SO shocked by that!) or Germany.... ditto. Like these two countries would tip the scales somehow?

I don't know about you, but I don't think France OR Germany strikes fear in the hearts of the terrorists. And while we are on the subject, I don't really care WHAT the group of terrorists CALL themselves... Al Quieda, Taliban, PLO, Wahabinettos, or Sauderettes, their aims are essentially the same and they all need to be dealt with. Kerry seems to think that if we veer away from Osama bin Laden, we are not on solid ground anymore. And while we are on that subject, I think Osama is in the grave anyway. I'll eat crow later if he turns up alive okay?

Kerry thinks in LEGAL terms.... Bush in GLOBAL terms. Terrorists don't OBEY laws.
That's the problem.

I better stop. I know, I know, politics is a volatile issue. But hey, it's what's uppermost in my mind today. I'll get right back to apple butter real soon, I promise.

Wow, two promises in one day. I think that's some kind of record!

Oops@ gotta take issue with you on the Kerry/Osama thing. Kerry definitely said Osama needs to be taken out, and he had some very stern words for Bush and blamed his policy directly on Osama's escape.

The rest of it is debatable, but Kerry made himself very clear on that subject.

The Presidency is going to be a formidable job for anyone in these times. I hope that whomever may win, they are surrounded by people who can offer the best support possible.

I checked that diary out, that is fantastic! Thanks for sharing. :-)

On the left we had a man all decked out with a new tan, perfectly petticured nails and freshly fluffed hair. He smirked alot and in general wore an air of superiority. When directly asked for specifics on his plan he never answered so we still do not know what his plans are. We do know he values France, Germany and the U.N. more than the sovreignty of this nation.

On the right there was little of elegance or eloquence, but there was an unwavering commitment to a specific plan, the safety of this nation and to the principals he believes in.

On the left we had Style.
    On the right was Substance.

I'll take Substance over Style any day.

Thanks I enjoyed you Link Tuntuliak I was thinking how difficult the life for him there. I am happy that he has found a way to highlight everybody on the situation of the small town. When I read it I remembered my country and poor villages. Once I visited some schools in a remote village where my Sister in Law was teaching. What I can gather in from that is the humanity prevails among those poor people. Kindness, sharing and humbleness are few among the qualities you find among.

The development we call is only commercialization. And it destroys human values to a great extent. I have worked in most underdeveloped areas and had staff from those areas. The values most of them posses is very hard to find among the rich society. Its bit disappointing but it’s the way it works. The price we pay for money and power most times is the values in people.

Politics, hmm not a topic I ever like to talk about. How much we think we know what is politics and what politicians do, I feel we know nothing. The thinking of a politician is of a different school of thoughts. We can’t think of those lines until we reach there as a politician.

    Have a great weekend.

Thanks for the comments. You can download that entire book to you computer. I did it in my Laptop but still havent read it. lol
