Farm Market
Mon Jul 10 2006

Headed out to the local Farm Market not far from here. Yes Virginia, they now have corn!

I also bought onions, apricots, enough green beans to cook up a *mess, and an armenian cucumber, which I read recently is not a cucumber at all but a kind of melon. [In case you hadn't heard.]

*Mess of beans definition from a nice blog I found...

Sunny came along and made a nuisance of herself in the back seat, thinking we were off to the wilds to go for a big run. When I got back to the car, she had nothing to say about the fruits and vegetables. They held no interest compared to the expected romp in the fields. Maybe I can mollify her later this evening with a corn cob to chew on.

The day is going to deteriorate further for her I am afraid, because she is in dire need of a bath. I'll try to break it to her gently.

"Ah,
To market, to market.
Lovely, lovely.
Just the thing
to do, early of a
Monday morning."

I never heard of "mess" except with beans. Only beans. Never heard of a mess of asparagus, or spinach...only beans. Never knew the origin of the usage until now.

Oh, and the place where military people eat.

    Shalom

How about a 'Baker's' Market? Or to be more precise....a 'Bagel Baker's' Market? I would love a 'Mess' of your bagels right about now.

Our little bakery may have your recipe but the bagels don't taste the same. Oh, well! Life is full of adjustments.

    Love ya.....Parett

BTW...Could you give me a little hint as to where chapters 16 and up start? Sosrry....I was distracted.

    Thank you!!!!!

I was directed to your welcome page and I love the feeling of the photo you use. Especially after watching 'Yentl' again last night. One of my favorite movies. And the songs.....WOW!

By the way...my profile is INFJ. Yours is the same as my youngest brother's.

Love to you, Hubman and Poolboy.

Beans and bagels. Hmmmm...could be on to something there.

Does the hen know it is "To market, to market to buy a fat hen...?" And does she know what is going to be done with said hen? :o)

RYC: *laffs* I suppose I could throw a breast in there AND I'll do the dishes if you'll make some black cherry scones!

Oh, yeah, and bring over the mess of beans while you're at it! Sunny can come, too. I'm sure she and 'Pie could keep each other occupied while we ate!

In the south the more proper (perhaps) would be 'a mess of black-eyed peas'. Still bean-like but another thing entirely. ;o)
