I stumbled past a disemboweled squeaky toy left by Sunny on my way into my work room this morning at o'dark thirty. A rather grisley sight first thing right off the bat. Could not sleep another minute. But that is what I get for going to bed at 9 last night.
Today I have to take our car in to get smogged.
Well, more precisely to be certified that only a certain amount of smog will be produced by our old 1982? Mercedes. When it was checked a few weeks ago, it was labeled a "gross polluter".
How demeaning.
Hub Man has tweaked and sparkplugged, tinkered, adjusted and fooled around with it. He filled it up with bottles of alcohol booster rocket fuel in hopes of squeaking by one last time. If it passes this test, we won't have to smog it any more because it goes into the "Take Pity On Them Because They Are Driving Such An Old Car, We Should Give Them A Break" category.
Some days I would gladly turn in my car for a good sturdy reliable horse. A nice half breed Morgan, perhaps crossed with a Highland Pony.
That sounds just about right for me. Dappled gray is my first choice, and barring that a nice deep bay would do. And just think any 'pollution' said horsey might produce could fertilize my garden.
But alas, I have to pass through the regulation gauntlet instead. And hopefully get my paperwork stamped and approved and certified.
That's if things turn out well. There is no guarantee that it will pass. God only knows what we will do if it doesn't.
You can hardly take your car out back and shoot it to put it out of its misery now can you?
But on the other hand, they are a lot easier to say goodbye to than a nice dappled gray Morgan/Highland Pony eh?
One has to look on the bright side of life.
From time to time.

"What is smog?
And why is she worried about it?
