One Down, One To Go
Tue Oct 16 2007

Wow, that was fast. This pattern is pretty easy to do, except for the shocking act of pulling out 'waste yarn' from the thumb area and picking up 'live' stitches and making the little thumb thingy. Right as I was negotiating this breath holding part, Sandy decided it was about time for a snuggle and tried persistently to get into my lap.

[We had a talk and I persuaded her this was NOT a good time.]

Anyway, I got it finished.

And immediately cast on the second one. Now that I know how to make them, I am wondering about other yarns, a little longer wrist, mohair.... eh? eh?

In the interest of full disclosure, I did not finish off with a picot bind off as the pattern called for. I crocheted the picot. I couldn't figure out why I shouldn't do that the simplest way available to me. It gave the same result!

it's a beaut... and I like the zig zag pattern the variegated yarn makes..... almost like a Log cabin quilt pattern "rows and furrows"

I love how the yarn worked up.
    Very pretty colors!
Maybe someday I can make those.
    It will be awhile. :o)
Thanks for all you patient teaching.
    Hugs, Tiggs

It's interesting how multi-colored yarn inevitably will make a pattern.

Now that you know how, I expect to see you in different gloves whenever we meet.

Did Sandy get her cuddling later?

    Bless

I see all sorts of variation possibilities so you should never get bored. :)

Did you enjoy the process of knitting cables? It looks as though they turned out well. I love cables and always enjoyed working them on the knitting machine.

By the way, have you ever tried picking up the stitches before pulling the waste yarn? Once on the needles it is considerably less harrowing to pull the waste. Don't know if it would be possible in such a small space, but it might be worth a try.

Okay, now I seriously want to knit these gloves. How pretty yours are, and I've seen them done bunches of times before. (I just got an email from KP - my cable needle order was cancelled. I'm bummed. I'll have to try again when they restock.)

Lovely gloves! The colors are brilliant!

RYC: is "putridity" an actual word? If it isn't, it should be. I rather like it.

That one glove turned out great. Yeah, no worries. I think do the thing that works, as long as it looks the same - re using the crocheted edge. Can't wait to see the pair. ;-)
