Okay, here's the scoop.
Hub Man and I are going on vacation.
A real old fashioned, drive way too many miles, 'see the USA' vacation.
We are headed to Montana so Hub Man can jump out of planes until he can't stand up. There's a skydiving 'boogie' up there and we are going to camp out in a tent near the air field.
I'm a real sport aren't I?
In the middle of the week we will drive up to Waterton Lake on the Canada side of Glacier National Park and camp out at the Waterton campground for two nights. I went there several years ago and have always wanted to go back. It's an awesome place.
My favorite part of the trip will be that I get to see some of my kids on the way there and back. Plus a big bonus of getting to visit InStitches in her native habitat.
I have been making piles of stuff all over the house to take along. We will be gone for two weeks and I feel like we are going on a safari. I just wish I had about four of those wonderful steamer trunks from that movie 'Joe Vs. The Volcano'. If you haven't seen that movie, rent it and you will know what I'm talking about. It's a sweet movie.
But alas, those things don't pack very well into a 1981 Mercedes. So we will have to make do with suitcases and ziplock bags. I would love to get a photo of the whole pile before it gets stuffed into the car, I'll see if I can arrange that.
It might be amusing.
Every time I travel, I try to practice the 'light' concept. And almost every time, I fail miserably. It only works for me if I'm going to be gone a few days. Then I can leave certain things behind because I know I will get back to them soon.
But this time, because of the nature of the trip, I will have a LOT of time on my hands while Hub Man is falling out of the sky. ERGO, I am bringing a truly staggering assortment of things to keep myself occupied. Knitting, drawing supplies, cd player, a stack of editing an inch thick, [something to do with a compendium of Bogwillow stories], my new, recently decorated journal, yoga mat, another stack of printed out Kabbalah essays, some magazines, and hopefully I can find a really killer novel or two. That would be so nice. It's hard for me to find a novel that really grabs my interest these days. Perhaps I will look for a good autobiography. Oh yeah, I'm taking my laptop too. Maybe once in a while I will be able to get connected and blog from the road. I'm kinda new to the wireless thing, so we shall see how that goes.
With such a plethora of occupations at hand, you just wait and see, I will probably end up wandering around in the woods gathering twigs and stones.
I hear there are trees behind the airfield. And a lake a few miles away.
But between me and the possible 'boredom from hell' there lies a gauntlet of gathering and stuffing, phone calls and bill paying, animal care arrangement and girding of loins that I will not be around to keep an eye on the peaches.
The good news about that is that they are far from ripe and will most assuredly not be plopping on the ground with a squish while we are away from home. I have artfully arranged my one dozen rubber snakes all over the tree, to hopefully keep the birds alarmed enough to find fodder in less hostile looking environs.
So, that's what's doing here today. My house is sort of inside out right now.
And I'm sure you know who is cranky about it...
[album 65561 GoofyHen2.JPG]All I'm saying is
we could neaten up
these piles a bit.
I think we could avoid the....
sprawl effect.
And I'm wondering,
Am I invited?
I could use a vacation.
Really I could.
(Good luck with that Red. If she is leaving those furry canines, especially that short legged one, there's no chance for the fowls. Never mind the 'boring' punctuation. I'll bet we get thrown into the closet with that extra sleeping bag she doesn't like at the last minute. You just wait and see.)
