Various Beasts and a View
Fri Aug 08 2008

After Hub Man declared himself jumped to a fair-thee-well, we packed up our too numerous to mention belongings and headed east and north.

We passed through a town called Sand Point, in Idaho. I was ready to pitch tent and stay forever.

That is a covered bridge in the distance by the way.

We saw this great lunking beastie on the road:

Not something we are accustomed to seeing very often let me tell you. I did the best I could on the fly....

Here's a bit of a closer view...

Those things are all legs if you ask me. Seems like if you had to eat one, there would be a lot of soup bones left over.

*** In more current news, it looks as if Belle will be going to her new home soon. The family is on vacation right now, but will be back in a week or so. Just long enough for us to say some proper goodbyes.

We have come very very close to keeping this one. The only thing that is putting a damper on that is that she is less than enthusiastic about Sunny. They don't fight, but Belle likes people WAY better than other dogs. And if we get another dog, we want Sunny to have a pal. She deserves no less after all she has put up with this last year or so with all the various dogs that have come and gone. So it is with reluctance that we are letting Belle go.

I will make sure the new family understands just how lucky they are, believe me!

So we have to look at this for several more days....

I don't know how we will cope....

she is so beautiful it is a shame she doesn't get on that well with the other pupster! I've eaten Moose many at time. My dad used to go to Canada moose hunting for many years. It tastes like beef only a more stringy texture. What wonderful pictures! Thanks for posting them! have a great week-end

AH yes with those long legs they love to wade lake shore lines and lunch on Lily Pads. Best not have a VEH. encounter as they end up in front seat. They are very good eating however.I have had some very UP Close and scary encounters while fishing up North and a Bull in RUT is crazy.
Glad Belle has a new home but Sunny is a special care giver also.

Beautiful pics!! Thanks for sharing ;)

Sorry to hear that Belle will be moving on. I'd secretely wondered if she's be staying on but Sunny does deserve a playmate after all she's been through.

I've loved moosies ever since I was a little girl. I would love to see one in the wild, but just like you did. Not up close and personal.
Great pics. Thanks for sharing them.

That first photo is beautiful. I can't blame you for wanting to stay on for a while.

I have to admit I thought you might keep Belle, but I'm certain you made the right decision in letting her go. Neither dog would have been totally happy if they weren't pals.

*hands you a big box of tissue to get you through the goodbyes*

How cool! Sandpoint Idaho is where Bookcrossing.com's head office is. Now when I talk to someone there I can have a mental image of where they live.
