So far our 'rain storm' hasn't been very impressive. We could use impressive.
Alas, what can we do? Not much.
I took the dogs out to the fields yesterday. This is where the turkeys live by the way. We are surrounded by open areas. There's a regional park and lots of space that isn't ever supposed to be developed.
The dogs are very happy about the whole situation. We are taking advantage of the winter weather to be out here as much as possible. When it warms up, it becomes a tick heaven and you go out at your own risk. Sometimes we do in spite of the ticks and then spend the rest of the day keeping an eye out for the little beasties. There's nothing like the feeling of a tick crawling up your neck to keep you alert...
There are other hazards that don't care about what season it is...
Here is Ben right before he found a wonderful [from his perspective] dead carcass of some kind to roll in.
Whew! Did he ever turn into an odiferous canine! Needless to say, a bath ensued post haste. Not quite something that was on my agenda for the day, but it was either that or banishment.
Well, I'm off to the kitchen. I've a hankering for some vegetable barley soup. This seems like an auspicious day to make a pot of it.
Oh yes, the engine? It's perhaps a quarter of the way to its destination. I've been sort of reveling in the fact that without wheels, I spend a lot less money. It's too far to walk to the yarn shop. . .
