Easily Amused
Sun Mar 08 2009

I have had such a week.  Lots of here and there. I'm hoping for calmer days ahead...

To settle my jangled nerves, I have been using up leftover bits of cotton yarn to make chemo hats for our knitting guild charity.

I have fallen in love with them. They are soft and won't be too hot on a summer day. I may keep the lavender one myself and make some more for next month's meeting.

They just make me feel happy to look at them.

(You can get happy examining moss on a rock. This does not say much about your standards.)

Oh yes it does. Being easily amused is a character trait worth its weight in gold. Especially right now. There are A LOT of things one can be worried about. Too many. So I'll take what I can get in the happy department.

I took the dogs way way out into the fields. They played in the creek. I brushed Sunny with the undercoat stripping tool and left a pile white fur. It looks like there was a dog fight. I don't think anyone will see it though because its way the heck and gone from the usual path we take. Ben is getting braver about water and did a fair amount of wading around.  Then of course, just as things were going swimmingly,

(Oh Lord....)

Sunny managed to find a dead animal to roll in. Fortunately it was an OLD dead animal and wasn't TOO stinky. We had a bath in the back yard when we got back.
Ben looked on with the proper concerned sympathy. More Sunny hair was shed during the bath. That dog is a fur factory.

Oh guess what?  I got another jury summons. So in two weeks I will head downtown AGAIN and sit for the cattle call. Thank goodness for knitting. Knitting will keep me sane.

I have been called for jury duty so often down here, I feel like an old pro at it.

The sun is out. The sky is blue. My little tiny tomato plants are soaking up the rays. They are so vulnerable at this point. Too much of anything, sun, water, lack of sun, or breezes will do them in. Sometimes I wonder why I mess with them. I used up every last one of my heirloom seeds this year. I hope my work is worth it. I have even been putting the tray of seedlings on a heating pad for several hours a day after their sun bathing is over. They get about half a day outside. I talk to them. I pull out the ones that keel over. . . Sigh.  It's hard being a farmer. You have to be tough.

Well, enough rambling.

Back to work.

One would think that Ben would be the big shedder. Look at all that long hair. Sunny is a short-hair dog. Where does it come from??

Isn't this just the nicest weather! I have windows open. Don't have any tomato plants growing, as I have no place to transplant them. I remember my Early Girls of some years back!

Does the group that knits the hats have memberships/groups in all cities? This looks like something #1 would enjoy being a part of.

Those hats would make anyone smile; they are very cheerful. I think () is just feeling left out. I don't suppose it is possible to make a hat for a punctuation mark. Does he have a favorite color?
