I went for a ride on my bike early this morning.
It's supposed to be hot today and I wanted to do it when it was nice out. I don't do heat. I'm terrible at it. I saw a few other people in my neighborhood who had the exact same idea. Walkers mostly.
Anyway, I toodled around and came to my favorite street in our whole subdivision. It's on the eastern edge and curves around sharply making a rather cozy atmosphere for some reason. Intimate, kind of. I wish I lived on that street sometimes. As I passed by the sharpest part of the bend in the road, there on my right, big as life was a male peacock sitting on top of the fence! I stopped dead in my tracks and stared at him. He was only about 15 feet away from me.
He looked at me, I looked at him. He wasn't worried. He stood there allowing me to admire him in all his magnificence for a good minute or so. Finally he spread his wings and jumped down into someone's back yard.
I'm really surprised he was there as we aren't SUPPOSED to have such birds in our neighborhood.... [more's the pity]. But I'm really glad he IS here. CC&R's be hanged.
Of course I didn't have my camera with me. So I don't have a nice picture for you. I really should learn to take that with me wherever I go. But how was I to know I would see something so out of the ordinary on a Wednesday morning? Even if it WAS on my favorite street and all.
I'll try to be more diligent about taking the camera with me from now on. I really will. I mean who knows? I might come around the corner one day and come face to face with a unicorn. And wouldn't I feel silly if my camera was at home?
(Cupcake, I hate to break it to you, but you ARE a unicorn. Which as everyone knows is a creature with an over active imagination. Snap out of it!)
You better be careful ( ). I'll sic the peacock on you.
(That'll be the day.)
